Selim Kılıç, Aysun Karabay, and Mehmet Kıvanç

Virtual reality (VR) technology has the potential to enhance student engagement in STEM education. This case study aims to investigate the effects of VR technology on student engagement in STEM education. The study was conducted in a STEM classroom where a group of students were exposed to VR technology while completing a series of STEM tasks, and the results were compared to a control group that completed the same tasks without the use of VR technology. The study found that students who were exposed to VR technology reported significantly higher levels of engagement and motivation compared to the control group. The study also explores the potential challenges and limitations of using VR technology in STEM education. These include the cost of VR equipment and the need for specialized training to effectively implement VR technology in the classroom. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of aligning VR technology with the curriculum and providing students with appropriate guidance and support to make the most of the VR experience. Overall, the study suggests that the use of VR technology in STEM education has the potential to enhance student engagement and motivation. On the other hand, it is important to consider the potential challenges and limitations of using VR technology in the classroom and to ensure that it is effectively implemented to maximize its potential benefits.
